St. Patrick’s Day is always a day to remember at the hub. Preparations this year began in the Art Hub where the pressure to get things right on time were felt weeks in advance with many of the kids and several volunteers offering their helping hands to the cause which included copious amounts of sewing and painting.
The theme of the parade this year was “wild bees” to raise awareness for the fact that they are now becoming extinct. This choice of theme allowed for many colourful and expressive floats and costumes. Prior to the big day we held a full dress rehearsal at the front of the hub which brought the kids and volunteers together. On the day itself we assembled at first at the Art Hub for a fabulous breakfast before heading into town.
Our route began at the top of O’Connell Street where hundreds of people awaited the festivities. There was a great atmosphere throughout the city and reception to our wild bees was buzzing. Our efforts paid off massively as the entire day went down as a success.
